MEOW’s stories

Published:

When I got back home in summer 2021 after graduated from Bowdoin, I needed to quarantine myself in a hotel room for 14 days. My friend Um-im suggested me draw a short comic, so I came up with this comic which is all about my cat, Meow.I used the free trial of a comic drawing application on my ipad, so when the period ended, I didn’t continue drawing or anything. Plus, I had quite a lot to do outside of a hotel room. Anyway, drawing cats was a really fun experience!

My Paintings Collection

Published:

In my free time, I love to paint with different techniques, but one of the techniques that I like the most is oil painting. I have never officailly taken any drawing or painting before, so they do not look that great. However, since I am quite proud of my work, I’d like to share them with you all. I do believe that anyone can draw and paint, and every single picture painted with a good heart is always beautiful. Some of these paintings are copy cats of the famous pieces, so I’ll let you figure out whose masterpieces I tried to imitate.

Missed Calls

Published:

“Missed calls” was the final project for my Photography 1. The semester was actually one of the hardest ones during my time at Bowdoin since I was taking 5 classes and two of them were project-based. (YES, this class was one of them.) Anyway, for this one, we were assigned to create something we cannot see. Hence, I decided to create the images of mobile’s ringtones. The actual project had the selected ringtones attached to each picture, but here I just want to present the photos and the techniques I incorporated.

Little Red Riding Hood

Published:

This was the second project of Photography 1, and the theme was pretty strange. Our professor showed us a bunch of photos that seemed surreal and told us to create something along that line. I then decided to recreate the famous European fairy tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ I’m very thankful for my friend Emma who was willing to be the model for this project. The main techniques I exploited in this project were double exposure and shadows. Warning! My story telling is going to be different from the original one…

Composition and Long Exposure

Published:

This was the very first project in Photography 1 at Bowdoin College. I took this class in my junior undergrad, and all I learned were techniques in film photography. We learned how to shoot, take a roll of film out of the camera, develop the film, and transfer photos onto the photography papers. This first assignment was to explore the basic knowledge in photography, namely, composition and long exposure.
